Natalie McCarthy's art is a profound reflection of Australia's diverse landscapes and unique ecological nuances, shaped by her intimate experiences of these environments and observation of spatial and light elements. Central to her creative process is painting en plein air, particularly during the ephemeral moments of dawn and dusk, exploring the transient qualities of light and atmosphere directly. Originally from Canberra and Sydney, McCarthy's artistic journey has taken her including to Eastern Europe and New York. However, it is her deep connection to the landscapes of Western Australia that has most profoundly influenced her recent work. Residencies at Fremantle Art Centre and the Cannery in Esperance have provided her with invaluable opportunities to immerse herself in the unique environments of the region and connect to their local art communities. A self-professed nomad, McCarthy has lived in Uluru in the Northern Territory, Fitzroy Crossing in Western Australia, and now resides in Regional Perth. Working with Indigenous communities across diverse regions, including the Pilbara, Kimberley, APY, Naanyatjarra Lands, and Yolngu clans of East Arnhem Land. Her collaborations with First Nations artists have been transformative, offering profound insights into their deep cultural connections to the land, the history of Australia and enriching McCarthy's own connection to place. Display of art works, artist folio and prints available for sale artist set up and live painting onsite.
